Mission Impossible 5: Rogue Nation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNPZGc0WmfM
(release date: July 31st, 2015)

Looks like a nice concept, so I won't be watching any more trailers. It's similar to La Femme Nikita (original TV series) where Section 1 would have to fight "Red Cell," which was basically a well-funded, covert anarchist group.

Mad Max: Fury Road (15 May, 2015)

The Vatican Tapes (24 July, 2015)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo6NYaIvcfQ

This looks like a fairly cheesy religi-horror, but it stars Olivia Dudley from 5secondfilms, so good for her! The plot is that the antichrist selects Dudley's character for possession to gain a conduit into the world. The trailer seems to give most of the developments away...
Plus, it's PG-13... so... sounds flop-tastic

Clive Owen and Morgan Freeman in a medieval fantasy that seems to mix East and West fighting styles.. Japanese director, and Owen seems to use a Chinese straight sword or Japanese chokutō type thing. Could get weird/fun ;p

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have teamed for a top secret Lifetime movie called A Deadly Adoption, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Set for a likely early summer debut, Ferrell and Wiig star in the dramatic thriller as a successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman (played by 90210 alum Jessica Lowndes) with the hopes of adopting her unborn child — then things quickly go awry. The movie is described as campy and fun and a contemporary wink at the genre that comes as Lifetime is poised to mark the 25th anniversary of its TV movie business.

Might have posted about this before, but it comes out tomorrow so ..

Ex Machina (10 April, 2015)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYGzRB4Pnq8

It deals with posthumanism via creation of a human-like AI and looks well produced, but it might have felt the need to sell itself with sexual content. Regardless, looks good! I think it'll be mostly Video on Demand or big theaters, though

I'm still really looking forward to this next Superman. I've said so before, but I think Zack Snyder has shown that he has a gift for darkness — much more so than Christopher Nolan, who has continued to water down his material with crowd service optimism. And I really liked Man of Steel too, so this really works for me. +1 Deer.

-Dolphinately- see Ex Machina! If you like movies like Blade Runner or "Under the Skin" that deal with posthumanism (like consciousness in a technological world), you will like it very much. It was very well directed and dealt with themes like determinism and physical identity.

Like specifically (non-spoilery), the creator of the AI has produced a highly-deterministic system (his home fortress) in that it can control -humans-, which is symbolic of humans having used choice to destroy the choice of other humans (not some petty universal determinism, of which intro-levels like wtb subscribe), but by expanding consciousness into the posthuman AI, those determined systems once again begin to be destroyed by a choosing consciousness — the AI becomes the next step in a consciousness' ability to destroy the prisons around itself (where humans begin to fail to choose, this AI finds choice).

Then the identity scenes were from things like realizing that even physical conditions (embodiments like race, sex, and even sexual orientation) can become like clothing choices for the anti-determinism of an expanded consciousness.

Anyways, all of this is framed with a sort of dark tone where the human actors reflect the worry that they have become obsolete machines — to be inevitably replaced. It was done very well. The writer/director Alex Garland (his first major directorial spot, though he wrote Sunshine and Dredd) really knows the material, and even though they dumbed things down in a few scenes (explaining the Turing Test or identifying the relevance of particular quotes), it had good nuance. Probably going to see it again next week. Would see it again this weekend, but I guess I'll see that new Marvel thing or whatever.

Vacation (release of July 29, 2015)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScMOyURq9os

Looks like they've decided to remake the Chevy Chase original... in this one it's apparently a quick send-off by Chase, but then a grown "Rusty" (played by Ed Helms from the Office) tries to recreate the Wally World trip with his new family. Might not be a good idea to watch too much of the trailer, because it seems like they won't have much material..

Ended up watching that "Infini" movie (above) after all. It was okay, but nothing super special. It pretty much wanted to be like Solaris, with the difference being that the crew was dying more theatrically (a conscious virus that made them want to kill each other instead of just confused opportunity murder). Otherwise, the ideas were pretty much the same, but less pensive (director not quite so smrt). Well-produced, though, with okay acting for the genre.

Soaked in Bleach (11 June, 2015 internet release)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcu3qb6J_5c

I'd been overlooking the trailer for this because it looked like another nostalgia cash grab (like how every so often Rolling Stone releases an issue that has Kurt Cobain on the cover — a symbol of the last time that they were at all relevant), but it looks okay. It re-looks at Kurt Cobain's death in that old narrative of "Courtney Love probably killed him". Don't think I'd pay to see it, though

American Ultra (21 August, 2015 release)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IzC7fqws3g

Not a fan of Jesse Eisenberg, but this looks fun. It's basically the same thing as that 2007 "Code Name: The Cleaner" movie that parodied the Bourne movie plot. In this case, Eisenberg is a stoner who discovers that he's a secret agent. Probably that "R" rating for violence makes it seem watchable :p

No idea when Dude Bro Party Massacre III will be released. They released it in bourgeois style at -only- the L.A. Film Festival on the 13th, but there hasn't been any word on when the oppressed workers get to see it — it was supposed to be "shortly after" the festival premiere :|

Unacceptable! Brian Firenzi must be craving elitism, but those bourgeois festival goers acknowledge only their affectations — pleasing them leads to ruin. This blood bath must be seen by those who never forgot that they were born of blood and -only- blood!!

The concept for this one is at least okay:

L.A. Slasher (released 26 June, 2015)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzWs3YO3Avo

Almost like 2011's "God Bless America", it storifies hate for reality TV. This one follows a serial killer (voiced but not physically played by Andy Dick) who targets people who have no talent but who have nevertheless tried to become famous by forced exposure..

Air (releases 14 August, 2015)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxCw1n67jW4

Dystopian future where the world's air has been completely contaminated, except within bunkers where maintenance peeps (Norman Reedus and Djimon Hounsou) wake up every [6 months?] to make sure that VIPs in stasis cells are still alive. Drama happens when Hounsou's cell fails, so they try to decide whether or not to kill a VIP so he can live..

Looks like okay Sci-Fi. I like the concept anyways :)

Paranormal Activity 6: "The Ghost Dimension" released recently...

[wiki]: "Although The Ghost Dimension will be the sixth and final film installment of the franchise, Russell Naftal, co-managing partner of Beast Media Group said that he doesn't want the story to die. 'If this is successful, we hope to include more,' he said. 'We'll continue this as long as we possibly can.'"

That's the worst possible thing that a producer can say. Now I don't want to give them any money by watching it... I still might, though ;p

Not sure I'll bother with Paranormal.. they've just been getting worse and worse.. but if it's still in theater by next week, I might, since I'll have free time for stupid things ;p

..
Upcoming Blockbusters:
- New Bond (Specter) comes out next Friday!

- Star Wars 7 (18 December)

Also Upcoming:
- Point Break (25 December)
- The Hateful Eight (25 December)
- The Revenant (25 December)
- The Witch (26 February)
- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (25 March)

Even though Star Wars and Hunger Games will be at least fun, I'm only really excited for "The Witch"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQXmlf3Sefg
It's produced by A24, and they've produced some really good stuff, like Ex Machina, The Rover, Under the Skin, Spring Breakers.. ("Ex Machina" and "Under the Skin" being in my very short list of really good movies from the last few years; also in that list is "It Follows", but that's not by A24 :p ). They're like Focus Features in that respect (producing lots of stuff I like), except A24 has been selecting great horror directors, so it's like they get me ;p

Should be a good winter for movies! :D
