But this time, it'll be 4 months after a celebration that could, if executed well, become a rally-around-the-commander-in-chief event. Unlike the ones you get from wars/terrorism, it can be a scripted one. Trump's team can take the rah rah to the Nth degree, piss off the libs, the more far loony left progressive of which will (predictably) boycott, hold some flag burning counter protest bullshit that insinuates that people who show up to the rah rah thing think Trump is Dear Leader of the Fatherland, now they look like they hate freedom. Conservatives can point and say "aha, that's what you're voting for when you vote dem!" - and those elusive "swing voters," whatever else they are, they are the flag waiving and patriotic sorts, so they will be receptive to that narrative (whatever else they are, consistent back-and-forth swing voters are almost by definition wishy washy and subject to the narrative-of-the-day). Some way will have to be derived to keep the flag burners in the news, that too shouldn't be too hard, maybe someone can be prosecuted to create a new opportunity for an older supreme court case about constitutionally protected flag burning being re-reviewed by the currently comprised supreme court. And, bam, if executed well by the Trump administration, the 250th bday (4 months before mid-term elections) could be a big win for the GOP, and they could *pick up* congressional seats even without some big terrorist attack type event, during a mid-term.
