Scott Bessent Just Can't Understand Why Oil Prices Are So High

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent admitted Thursday that for some reason, he can't wrap his head around why oil prices are so high in the middle of a war despite his boss' declaration of "ECONOMIC D-DAY" against Iran.

"We've got a spike in oil prices today that I don't really understand," he told reporters. "Our announcement is for economic action, and I think that the economic action will mean that oil prices will come down sooner."

It's no mystery that Americans have been feeling the effects of skyrocketing oil prices ever since President Donald Trump launched his war with the Islamic Republic. The war has resulted in the Strait of Hormuz's closure, severely impacting oil shipments.

Just the night before, Trump raged against Iran in a Truth Social post, saying the country would experience "Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale." Last week, the president told Americans to accept higher gas prices while the war continues.
