‘He’s Got a Great A**’: Trump Claims His Bizarre Compliment Boosted Senator by ‘12 Points’

President Donald Trump claimed that his bizarre remarks about Sen. Jon Husted's (R-OH) backside helped boost the senator's polling numbers by 12 points, once again boasting about the electoral benefits of complimenting his fellow Republican's physique.

In a TikTok video posted Wednesday ahead of his rally in Chillicothe, Ohio, Trump praised Husted's athletic background, calling him "one of the best football players around" and claiming "nobody knew this."

"I told the people — they didn't know this — he has a great a**, a very powerful a**. His shoulders, his hands, his arms, and you know what happened? He went up 12 points in the ratings," Trump declared. "Ohio loves strong football players."

Trump first made the eyebrow-raising remarks at an Oct. 12 rally in Youngstown, Ohio, where he recalled "examining" Husted's physique after learning that the senator was an All-American defensive back at the University of Dayton.

"I watched up and down. I looked at his a**, and I looked at the whole — and then I looked at his hands," Trump told the crowd.

The president has since repeatedly revisited the story, offering varying accounts of how much his comments supposedly improved Husted's standing in his Senate race against former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.

On Oct. 20, Trump claimed that his remarks had propelled Husted into a two-point lead. Five days later, while speaking with Fox News, he credited his comments with an even more dramatic polling surge.

"He went up 14 points or something," Trump said. "And that was my rally. That was when I said the word, the A-word, and everyone said, 'Oh, why is he talking about that?'"

But Trump has not cited any polling to substantiate his claims, and recent surveys show Husted trailing his Democratic challenger.

A Marist University poll released Oct. 20 found Brown leading Husted 48% to 44% among likely voters, while a Fox News survey conducted Oct. 15–19 showed Brown ahead 52% to 47%. A Suffolk University poll released Wednesday also gave Brown a three-point advantage, 47% to 44%.
