Utopia Talk / Politics / AOC is so brave and fierce

Serious question here...even if your political beliefs place you 100% on the same side as AOC, how can you stand this sort of insufferable virtue signaling?

-----

America is suffering through a pandemic, riots, a violent crime wave, a recession and record unemployment, but Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens-Bronx) wasted an hour of the nation’s time on feigned outrage in Congress over an alleged insult she didn’t even hear.

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) denies calling her a “f–king bitch,” a claim for which she offers no evidence, apart from the hearsay of a reporter from The Hill who claimed, in any case, that Yoho did not direct those words to AOC.

The reporter, Mike Lillis, wrote that Yoho uttered those words as “a parting thought to no one in particular,” and out of earshot of AOC.

Yoho says he never said them. What he says he said, when he was recovering from a robust encounter with AOC on the Capitol Steps was “f–king BS.”

AOC is playing a destructive and dishonest verbal game. She claims Yoho “decided to accost me on the steps of the nation’s Capitol.” She describes the encounter as “virulent harassment of a young woman.”

In her misogyny speech to the House she said Yoho “put his finger in” my face. She is using the fury that a woman summons for physical assault to describe an imaginary grievance, an insult she never heard and which Yoho denies saying.

Yet, instead of rebuking her performative narcissism, the media gushed over her dishonest speech: a “Powerful Rebuke to Sexism” “A lesson in Decency.”

----

Both Yoho and AOC agree there was a verbal altercation last Monday. He apologized for “the abrupt manner of the conversation.”

She refuses to accept his apology because he won’t admit to saying something she didn’t hear him say.

Yoho says he stopped her to challenge her farcical claim that the surge in crime in New York City was due to people being hungry.

“When she told me that, yes, she thought it was right for people to go ahead and shoplift if you’re hungry, I said . . . those are just absolutely the most frickin’ crazy policy ideas . . . Your policy ideas are disgusting.”

Asked if he had called AOC a “f–king bitch” he said, “No. I walked down the steps, and I said, ‘This is just such frickin BS.’ ”

In the telling of Lillis: “Yoho told Ocasio-Cortez she was ‘disgusting’ for recently suggesting that poverty and unemployment are driving a spike in crime in New York City . . .

“The two then parted ways. Ocasio-Cortez headed into the building, while Yoho, joined by Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas), began descending toward the House office buildings. A few steps down, Yoho offered a parting thought to no one in particular.

“F–king bitch,” he said.

Williams said he never heard those words.

AOC called him a “liar” and demeaned both congressmen, saying they “think their little man card will be taken away if they apologize for their absurd behavior.”

When AOC first heard about the comment, she turned it into a defiant tweet “hey ‘bitches’ get stuff done.”

But two days later, she staged a pantomime of fainting-couch feminism, gratuitously reading the vulgarity into the Congressional Record.

“Representative Yoho called me, and I quote, “a f–king bitch.”

She claimed the slur was aimed at “every woman in this country . . . This is a pattern of an attitude towards women and dehumanization of others.”

She attacked Yoho’s family. “Having a daughter does not make a man decent.”

She used her female privilege to claim immunity from criticism yet mercilessly attacked a fellow member of Congress.

But Yoho was right to challenge AOC on her comments excusing New York’s crime wave during a virtual town hall on the very day that 1-year-old Davell Gardner Jr. was killed at a family cookout in Brooklyn.

“Why is this uptick in crime happening? . . . Do we think it has to do with record unemployment in the US right now?” she said.

She pretends now that she was talking about “petty crime.”

But anyone who lives in New York knows that the “uptick in crime” refers to shootings and homicide.

Her words betrayed callousness for the tragedies that have befallen families like the Gardners."

I'm guessing the same way your partisan hackery allows you to stand for all the bullshit that fits your agenda?

Also say what you will about the American right, but at least they dont say or do anything that requires you to effectively chop your balls off to support.

Contrast that with the Democrats, where your ideal "man" is a feminist/gay rights activist who wears skinny black pants and square transparent glasses and spends his afternoons drinking soy lattes while discussing with his baes about how best to handle toxic masculinity in America.

pretty sure it was 2 people who heard it including a reporter

& his 'apology' on the floor of congress was "the offensive name-calling words attributed to me by the press were never spoken -to my colleague-"

it was never reported he said it -to her- only after leaving the heated conversation

seems carefully crafted language imo in case video proof comes out

also, wut?:

"America is suffering through a pandemic, riots, a violent crime wave, a recession and record unemployment, but Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens-Bronx) wasted an hour of the nation’s time on feigned outrage in Congress over an alleged insult she didn’t even hear."

her speech was 10 mins (covering more than the disputed words)... & she is 1 of 435 people in the House vs -months- of nothing productive (in fact multiple harmful actions) from the President

I was only providing a framework to which you could relate to help you understand how some people might support this. Your own partisan hackery is that framework.

For someone who repeatedly claims that he is only opposed to Trump and not conservatives in general, you sure are quick with the ol' AOC defense here.

WoO

Thank you for confirming your hackery.

Yoho seems like another lyin' Ted & he -is- a Ted... so halfway proven

and i oppose a whole lot of conservatives... all the fucking asshole dick liars propping up Trump, like his original 4 capos (Nunes, Jordan, Meadows, Gaetz) then add-ons like Rattcliffe... & occasionally Lindsey Graham (depending on which form he has taken for the day)

Trust me, you didn't need to clarify the point. Anyone who supports an *actual* socialist and SJW like AOC is almost certainly going to be hostile to conservatives and conservatism in general.

I suppose it does provide some context for your "delusional BS" threads though. Youll still be making them even when Trump retires...as long as people are espousing conservative policies, they'll be "unfit morons" in your mind.

Of course, AOC had no problem with her colleague calling Trump a "motherfucker".

i don't actually follow AOC's comments & stances much (i don't live in New York & i don't watch Fox News... who i'm sure pulls out every dumb thing or, more likely, thing they can pull out of context, possible)

she does seem like the kind of representative you'd want though, seems passionate and in the job for the right reasons

when i -have- seen her she did a great job... probably the best questioner of the entire panel in the Cohen hearing, drawing out much useful info

this is entirely wrong... Trump's obvious unfitness & stupidity has NOTHING to do w/ conservative policies or even policies at all

"I don't actually follow AOC's comments & stances much (i don't live in New York & i don't watch Fox News... who i'm sure pulls out every dumb thing or, more likely, thing they can pull out of context, possible),"

Shes literally the architect of the GND and is a slated policy advisor for the Biden campaign. She also wields a huge amount of influence within her party. "I dont follow her BS because shes not important" is not a very convincing excuse.

"she does seem like the kind of representative you'd want though, seems passionate and in the job for the right reasons"

The 25,000 Amazon jobs for her district that she helped blow up say otherwise.

"when i -have- seen her she did a great job"

You are hereby banned from talking badly about Trump if your standards are this skewed.

i doubt you have a good understanding of the Green New Deal given all the total bullshit spread about it (i don't know it well either, but i know it didn't ban cows or planes & it was entirely aspirational)

& i'll assume you never even watched AOC / Cohen:

compare to a Nunes or Ratcliffe performance at a hearing... & please feel free ot post one of theirs you think is good... i will shred it

I understand that $93 trillion is an absurdly large number.

I also understand that the programs envisioned would require an unprecedented and absolutley mammoth expansion of government power.

And the draft document DID mention cows and airplanes, you cant just retcon that

As long as we're swapping videos, here's AOC getting her ass handed to her over the definition of "illegal immigrant:"

just because Blaze added music doesn't make her wrong... i'm almost certain you CAN cross illegally & then seek asylum... the guy doesn't even deny it, he only says 'if you want to seek asylum go to a port of entry'... which granted would be the preferred method, but not mandatory

as for GND (which did not ban cows/planes, not sure anything at all was mandated), i think it's a major positive to have more people in congress concerned w/ environmental issues... and we need lots fewer people believing god will maintain the environment or that humans can't possibly affect it

I would only argue that this is a subsect of the left. The SJW branch.

I understand they have grown more prominent lately and IMO disproportionately get heard because they are extremists and loud.

But there are still your Bill Maher types. Now there is a Democrat I can work with.

I should correct my post from I dislike* where I meant I like*

To clarify when she's cooks dinner on YouTube and teaches about politics and such, that's a good thing. I wish more Congress members did this.... Well maybe not.

Sure if you are lazy and thinks the world somehow owes you everything. So far the only thing she has done is chase jobs away from her district and spout off a bunch of nonsense about free shit for everybody.

Well, the road to Perdition was paved with the greatest of intentions. I do believe she has good intentions.

Now, scaring away Amazon was stupid. Better than McJobs.

she 'chased jobs away' for a reason... the $ billions in tax breaks (it's not like some lobbyist handed her an envelope of $ like the sterotypical politician)

plus Amazon decided to build something there anyway... yes, it's currently fewer jobs but the original deal was no guarantee... it was not an instant 25,000 jobs, that was over decades

they could've pulled what Foxconn pulls on gullible people like Scott Walker in Michigan... just alter the deal & deliver less than promised
