The Seattle Police Department said more than 200 officers have left their jobs since last year.

The departing officers have cited what they call an anti-police climate in Seattle, City Council policies and disagreements with police department leadership.

Protip, if you want the big city vibe and safety in the region, hang out in bellevue. Seattle's urban core is literally trash. Bellevue is where all the sane people hang out these days.

I think that statistic would be more relevant if it were paired up against the number of cops that usually retire in a normal year.

The seattle police department is about 1400 officers. Its normally a pretty good job with good pay... typically over 100k(great for low skill police work)... and good benefits, so turnover is low(most seattle suburbs are a great place to live too).

So based on a 30 year career, we would expect 50 officers to depart in a given year... in reality it would be more because even at low turnover jobs not everyone makes 30 years. So 100 is probably a good number for normal departures, making 200 a significant abberation.

Madison park is a decent neighborhood. A little crowded for my tastes but not a bad choice if you have to live within seattle official boundaries.
