It doesn't fix shit, but maybe prevents more mistakes in the future.

The mistake the congress arm of gov made was trusting that the executive branch would make smart/honest decisions about reacting to terrorism.

But of course, during even the infant years of what grew into the tea party movement and eventually Trumpism - there was the Bush Admin lying their asses off to excuse a massive war effort in a land unrelated to 9/11.

Afghanistan was justified. Iraq was a blunder we can't fully grasp the long term consequences of with it's damage to the USA. Much of today's political disfunction and mass disregard for politician dishonestly/bogus conspiracy culture started with 9/11 as it's seed event.

Bin Laden's attack quietly continues against the US and has done more damage than anyone could have imagined 20 years ago.
