Probably biggest hit on Netflix ever. It is projected to be but as of now is not.

And you shouldn't trust Hollywood. They told us to vote for Hillary and then told us to vote for President Biden. Look how disastrous that has turned out.

There are a lot of myths is Hollywood.

1.People dont like strong female leads. Is still thrown out there as an excuse for things like the all female Ghostbusters or gunpowder milkshake....in reality they were just shit films.

By Netflix numbers it is total households that have viewed at least one episode for two minutes.

Another place I read and can't find now said they were basing their claims on interest in the series including pirated versions, comments in social media and other fun stuff.

I guess Netflix has always used the two minute threshold as their mark. The series is getting a lot of traction around the world. I've seen and heard others mention Squid Games but didn't know it was a series until this thread.

An updated article is now saying Netflix most popular non English language series and a chance to be most popular all time.

The other article that used public interest said Stranger Things was still ahead with the way they rate popularity but that this one will pass Stranger Things really soon because of viewing outside the USA.

My wife watched 1 episode of Squid Game with our daughter and wasn't interested in continuing. I have no interest in the show, either. Still behind on a lot of other shows I'm watching. Called having a life.

Looks like another Asian flop propped up by Netflix's "oh they watched 2 minutes, it's a hit!" menipulation.

The only good media out of Asia is anime. Asians suck at live action.

I guess the real question is why are Asians so bad at acting in front of the camera, but so good at voice acting. Are they shy or something?

I've watched it... it's pretty much offspring of Battle Royal.

I enjoyed it, but it's nothing new or anything. What I liked most is that they made the logistics of organising this insane deadly games thing part of the story, but then sadly they just abandoned that and this plotline didn't come to any sort of conclusion at all.

Possibly something they'll do more with in season 2.

It isn't that we are brainwashed. It is that the vast majority of the population doesn't give a shit about foreign language films. Companies in the US have learned there isn't money in bringing foreign language films to the US for a wide theater release so they don't do it. You have a few niche theaters that will show them.
Trailer looks good but we want to watch shit blow up not read about shit blowing up.

On an aside the movie was scripted, funded and produced by the Chinese government and you can be jailed for giving a negative review of the movie in China. You can also be jailed for pointing out historical inaccuracies in the movie.

Wouldn't surprise me any with how China has begun using facial recognition that you will soon be fined or put on a no fly list if you don't go see this movie. hell it might already be happening.

Anyway it doesn't seem terrible, also not spectacular.Kind of what you would expect from a korean game show drama.
