On Sunday, Switzerland will hold a referendum on whether to introduce an inheritance tax for the very wealthy. If the law becomes a reality, the money will be earmarked to combat climate change.

The proposal means that an inheritance tax of 50 percent will be introduced for people with a fortune of more than 50 million Swiss francs, equivalent to 587 million kronor. It affects 2,500 Swiss households and would mean an addition to the state treasury of the equivalent of 70 billion kronor per year, according to calculations.

The initiative comes from the youth wing of the Swiss Socialist Party and has been met with strong protests from the business community.

“It would be a disaster for Switzerland,” says Peter Spuhler, owner of the engineering company Stadler Rail and one of the country’s richest people, according to the Financial Times.

” It would be a disaster for Switzerland,” says Peter Spuhler”

Why? An additional 70 billion SEK (about $7-8 billion) would be great for Switzerland and the Swiss people and for everyone. The very rich are not using that money anyway.

Roflmao climate change

And you aren't taking into the loss of the money they do spend or invest in the country, as well as the taxes they do pay.

And since the newly gained cash would be earmarked for climate change, it'll all go to research (fake politically and financially motivated climate propaganda or jewish climate weapons) or energy contracts for renewables (retarded) and would be thus drawn out of the local economy and large and public services.

Switzerland voted resoundingly against a new tax on the super-rich today. According to preliminary figures, around 80 percent of voters voted no, reports the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

The initiative came from the youth wing of the Swiss Socialist Party and was met with strong protests from the business community.

Britain should also let people vote on whether they want to pay more taxes or not.

Rachel Reeves denies lying about Budget black hole to justify tax hikes

Rachel Reeves denies breaking Labour manifesto pledge not to raise taxes – but admits she is asking people to pay more

Rachel Reeves has denied lying about the scale of the Budget black hole to justify her £26bn tax hikes.

Pressed by Trevor Phillips on Sky News about whether she lied to the public by not making it clear she had a £4bn surplus instead of a deficit, she hit back, saying: “Of course I didn't”.

Her denial comes as Sir Keir Starmer is set to her Budget in a speech next week after Downing Street dismissed claims the chancellor misled voters over the scale of the fiscal challenge facing the UK.

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) on Friday said it had informed the chancellor as early as September 17 that the deficit had improved, and told her in October it had been eliminated altogether, but Ms Reeves suggested tax rises were still necessary in November to tackle a £20bn gap.

The chancellor denied breaking from the manifesto while speaking to Laura Kuenssberg: “We didn't break the manifesto.

“But am I asking working people to pay a bit more? Yes, I am.”

She also affirmed that she felt she would be chancellor for years to come.

"The “initiative for a future”, put forward by the youth wing of Switzerland’s Socialist Party, had meanwhile called for a 50-percent inheritance tax on fortunes above 50 million Swiss francs ($63 million) — estimated to affect some 2,500 households."

It is so creepy that your political parties have youth wings.

Gotta indoctrinate the kids while they're still young though, am I right?

Switzerland's Young Socialists are wild, lol.

- No minimum age to join

- Default gender option in the Join section is "Non-binary"

- Has a whole page devoted to "Gender-Inclusive Language"

- Advocates climate change policies that "disproportionately affect the wealthiest members of society" and calls for bans on private jets and golf courses

- What even is this:

"The revolution will be feminist or insignificant!

On June 14, 2023, we will strike. We, women, trans, non-binary, intersex, and agender people, with cis men in solidarity at our side, will strike to demand that the chains of our oppression within the patriarchal system finally be broken. Because since the feminist strike of 2019, the situation has hardly improved, or worse, sometimes even worsened. But we don't want inclusion and equality with men within a capitalist system, because our freedom cannot be achieved as long as the labor of all workers is exploited. Our freedom also cannot be realized as long as transphobia, ableism, racism, fatphobia, and queerphobia exist. Our struggle for freedom must therefore be intersectional. Because we will not be free until everyone is free, even if we wear different shackles!"

And we wonder why young people have such a problem with political extremism. Rofl

The fact that far-left groups like these are allowed to operate in Europe and it's considered completely normal and uncontroversial...but whenever the AfD wins some local elections, it's a major international story.

Really tells you how screwed up the Overton Window in Europe is.

"A proposal to impose a new national tax on individual donations or inheritances of more than 50 million francs ($62 million) was shot down by more than 78% of voters."

So that's dead.

Also ...

"Swiss voters on Sunday decisively rejected a call to require women to do national service in the military, civil protection teams or other forms, as men must do already.

... over 84% of voters rejected the “citizen service initiative” and none of the country’s 26 cantons, or states, came anywhere near voting in favor."
