rank | Sat May 09 21:17:37 Russia won the WW2 when they defeated Nazi Germany, invaded Berlin and made Hitler to kill himself, and it is worth celebrating this victory and remember it by having a victory day. I’m curious if the US regards their contribution in the WW2 as a victory or not. If they do, why don’t they have a victory day with military parades and pop corns? Isn’t it worth to remember and honor all those who faught in the war? |

rank | Sat May 09 21:24:47 Its a big bank holiday here in France. Most shops closed yesterday, streets filled with food and trinket vendors, marching bands etc etc, festival atmosphere. In general, France is bigger on commemorating WWII stuff than e.g. the UK - more WWII statues and memorials etc. Surprised me at first until it dawned on me that WWII was even more of a trauma for France than the UK, what with being occipied etc. |
