Two individuals acting as go betweens (only one present on the day) arranged for the others to drive the vans with petrol to the base. On the way the one guy with the other five said there was a bomb in the cargo (which turned out not to be true) causing one of the others to call the police. So I assume it's was either a dry run or a stunt as a threat (look what we could do) - or just incompetent and someone else was supposed to provide the bomb to set the petrol off. |

rank | Thu Oct 29 14:22:31 Minded to agree. But it is a moot point - the Americans ran away from this. Probably only cost the Iranians a few thousand pounds at most, and a few burned assets (not agents) - but that's what assets are for. |
