Member | Sat Jun 06 18:03:14 There was never any question. That horse doesn't tire and once he was in the lead with a moderate pace, it was all over. He could have easily kept running at least another 1/2. |

Member | Sat Jun 06 19:08:55 Yeah, never any question a few years ago with Big Brown either, but he shit the bed in the Belmont. |

Member | Sat Jun 06 20:17:22 *shrugs* I was never very confident Big Brown would run the Belmont well. He definitely didn't disappoint in that regard. |

Member | Sat Jun 06 22:30:17 Belmont is a crap shoot cuz it's so freaking long. |

Member | Sun Jun 07 09:29:02 It is, but American Pharoah had been looking incredibly good in the home stretch - like there was a lot more in the tank even after pulling away. He has such a nice stride and just appears to move very efficiently compared to some of the other horses. He maintained his weight and there really hadn't been any issues with him. And he's versatile, rather than having to be ridden from a certain position, or on certain track conditions, to maximize success chance. The only real question about him was if he'd get bothered by the crowd noise, but he seemed perfectly fine. There always seemed to be an issue with Big Brown. Even though they always said, "Don't worry, blah blah blah," I still figured there was a decent chance something would happen to him in the Belmont. He just seemed like one of those horses that always had an issue. |
