"ah, ok... i didn't look at photo close enough, only read the article :p"

lulz, that's probably the better way to do it. I went to CNN's Twitter page for the article, and not many people (Two?) had actually read the article. One of them also posted this video:
(it's 8 minutes, but 6:30 is where he brings up the classic point: the creator may have tried to pronounce gif [jif], but English linguistics do not function by the inarticulate wishes of randos)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoi39oIKJU8

I prefer the creamy style :p ( #NoInnuendoIntended )
..but commentary on Twitter makes me wonder if I should be getting classier with my peanut butter choice ;D

True. Some comments on the related Imgur post pointed out that it's considered dangerous driving (legally speaking) to overtake multiple vehicles at once.

That does help, yeah :D
I thought the thread title was just gibberish. I see now that "Sliders" refers to the slide function/bar of a character's physical attributes... I thought the OP was just throwing different cultural references together, including a reference to the '90s "Sliders" show :D

i never heard of it either, i assumed it was a fairly obscure game (& maybe is, i dunno)... so even bigger coincidence :p

it was on sale in Steam not long ago (~$10), & they either recommended it to me or was just the one they were specifically advertising as on sale that weekend or however Steam works...

it's good as a $10 game :p (i'd wait for another sale, probably a big Spring one coming soon)

it has a semi-interesting pawn system (pawns are your party members, if you want them)... one you make yourself & control advancement of it, then up to 2 others you add & remove as wanted (they don't advance, so you just replace them periodically as you out-level them, or want different classes... it costs nothing if they aren't higher level than you... also apparently you can get other people's pawns, and your created pawn can potentially be used by other people if you play online... i didn't mess w/ that & just played offline) and pawns all have different knowledge about quests & enemy weaknesses & offer advice... they chatter a lot (especially in combat) so kinda gives the feel of playing w/ other people w/o them being real people (as is ideal :p)

also nice is you can change your class at will more-or-less (& that of your one created pawn) and each class has different 'augments' which are permanent buffs that you can carry over to other classes when you switch

some downsides (to me):
- not a great inventory system... & a ton of little resource items you pick up that you can combine into mostly one-use items that i didn't really mess w/ much (not a good combine system either)
- seems a fairly small bestiary overall, w/ them reusing models to get extra creatures (like wolves, direwolves, hellhounds... just all basically different color/scale :p)
- only 1 save slot (save often, as death is just reload)

as always, i recommend watching gameplay videos on Youtube if interested (i want no blame :p )

PORT ARTHUR, Texas (AP) — A 24-year-old man was sentenced Wednesday to 30 days in jail for posting on social media a video last August of himself removing an ice cream container from a Texas market freezer, licking the contents and returning the container to the freezer.

D’Adrien Anderson, 24, also was sentenced to an additional six-month jail term probated for two years and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and $1,565 in restitution to Blue Bell Creameries, which had to replace all of its products in the freezer.

Anderson began serving his jail term immediately after sentencing.

some Robert Durst audio clips played in court:

“I decided I’d wait until night. And then, I’d pick it up and carry it out. And, and then I realized I wasn’t picking up that body and carrying it anywhere. I wasn’t strong enough to do that,” Durst said in the clip played in court.

“I could drag it out. But I just couldn’t see, and then, I thought about putting it in a sleeping bag or something and then, dragging the whole thing out. But, good God, that’s ridiculous,” Durst said in the recording.

...

“I’ve been told, um, that a surgeon would cut up a body the same way you do a chicken. You go into the joint. And you, you cut around the joint. You get rid of all the ligaments. And then, the thing comes out,” Durst said in one chilling excerpt played for jurors.

“You’re not gonna try to cut through the God-damned bone,” he said.

Weird... that person links the original SkyNews video, which shows that SkyNews released it that way:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELrn0mmZnGE
Clearly video-edited (not a hand-off like some crazies think; it's still red through the car windows), and most likely SkyNews was just trying to emphasize the subject of a "Green budget", which was mentioned in the same few second window that the color change happened. It's just weird that they'd attach that emphasis without a more overt note of having attached the emphasis (like, also edit on a circle around the binder to show that it was intentional).

Probably a video editor in post thought he was being clever but didn't realize that it's not a good idea to be *that* subtle in a time where people worry about "fake news" :p

Hilarious linked videos in the comments, though. Like this ultra-crazy loon "Russianvids" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ytmB_t9mIk ) talks about it, and he interprets green as "poison" — even though actual OSHA poison warnings come in yellow or red — pretty much entirely because he Google-image-searched and cherry-picked the green graphic of the '80s hair metal band "Poison". lol. And he mentions twice in the video that he's a flat-Earther, he mentions that he doesn't think Coronavirus or Ebola even exist, he uses numerology to extract and interpret meaning, and he thinks that Freemasons/Illuminati ("Ordo ab Chao"; "Order from Chaos") have sent him this message (And to taunt the public) as PSYOPs. lol... Random fact about LL that I just learned when I revisited that motorcycle video:
Unlike most sites, on LL it is *not* anonymous when you up-vote/down-vote (usually it's only up-votes shown (e.g., Twitter, cheezburger network) or no votes at all (e.g., Reddit)). So, you can actually see who up-voted/down-voted a particular comment. Worse, I found that out because someone ("cougar302b") blocked me from seeing any of their comments because I down-voted one of their comments. Pretty wacky stuff. It looks like four different people have blocked me for the same reason. lol. I've had people shadow-block me on Imgur after I was mean to them, but being blocked for down-voting? That's new to me :D

..
You've probably heard about or seen Americans raiding toilet paper due to Corona fears (like that makes any practical sense at all), but here's video from some Costco to drive home the insanity of it all:
http://imgur.com/gallery/yQs6AfW
Another random fact, probably related: The U.S. leads the world in per capita toilet paper consumption. That's something I've never understood. Some people absolutely stuff toilets, and it's like.. "Why so much?" It reminds me of that Chris Pratt Parks&Rec moment where he jokes about wiping and wiping and never getting totally clean... For the record, the solution is simply to wet/dampen the TP :p

"i think Australia started the toilet paper madness, there's several videos of them fighting each other after having created a shortage by assuming a shortage"

I've seen articles confirming that; BBC, BusinessInsider, and CNN have all blamed Australian sensationalism. Their full version was that a bad Australian news source ("The Northern Territory News (NT News)" — in good company with DailyMail and National Enquirer), stated (possibly sarcastically) that China was running out of toilet paper and therefore — because China produces everything — the rest of the world would experience a shortage too. Australians started hoarding, and madness spread. Of course, in reality, China was *not* running out of TP, and China is *not* the world's producer of TP (They only make up 1 of Australia's 15 TP sources, apparently). U.S. brands including Charmin (Procter & Gamble), Quilted Northern (Georgia-Pacific), and Kleenex/Cottonelle (Kimberly-Clark) all have factories and paper mills in the U.S., sourcing from Canadian and U.S. trees...

So, just short-term demand-induced scarcity, yeah. Local stores just need to order more to account for their idiots. Manufacturers and distributors have plenty to $$$burn$$$ :p

For Corona, I did get some 70% IPA wipes for sanitizing shared surfaces, but if things go full Mad Max, I'll hunt people for food and use their clothes for TP ;D

"STANFORD, CA—In response to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, top U.S. health experts warned the nation Thursday to hold onto their fucking seats, because this bitch hasn’t even thought about starting yet. “We’ve been getting a lot of questions surrounding Covid-19, and, well, you all better buckle the fuck up, because this shit is about to kick into high gear,” said Stanford professor of health research and policy Richard Mason, throwing all his papers in the air and warning the nation that they better strap in tight, because this motherfucker will knock you on your goddamn ass. “If you think it’s bad now, just fucking wait, because this son of a bitch is gonna go into full-fledged annihilation mode. Seriously, wash your hands, cut off your hands—it doesn’t fucking matter. You poor bastards are going to get absolutely fucking destroyed.” At press time, Mason knocked over his podium, curled up in a ball on the floor, and started screaming, “Steel yourselves!”"

Must be fun to use a giant truck for personal trips :D

..
"oral thermometers seem sold out too..."

Hmm... seems like a waste. Like, "Yup, my temperature is high. Better see a doctor".. and then pay for the doctor anyways. Or! Don't buy the thermometer, and just see the doctor about health concerns — skip the middle. :p
In fairness, maybe it makes sense for taking the temperature of children who can't communicate their symptoms.

..
"some bulls fighting & messing up a messy market stall"

It's funny that they recognized the fight and immediately started clearing expensive items (scooters) out of the area (though, why not close the metal door when they had all that extra time at the start?).. kind of shows how typical this can be for them :D
..and answers a random question I've thought about: I knew that India lets cows roam around, but I'd wondered about bulls. Good to know..

lulz.. Maybe he was going to get *one* but then decided he needed enough for the rest of his life (Expecting to live longer than he will, eating that dressing)?

One thing I've been thinking about for Coronavirus that I haven't seen expressed in memes: that scene in "The Dark Knight" that always bothered me, where the civilians on the boat *don't* blow up the prisoners.. I think peoples' handling of resource hoarding pretty much shows how unlikely that is. :p

I went to the grocery today to get some vegetables for a black bean recipe, and I noticed that a lot of the toilet paper hoarders looked like the "Karen" meme... so.. the stereotypes about anti-vax Karens getting their life advice from Facebook must be measurable.

"Conservative Worries Relief Checks Would Discourage Americans From Providing For Selves By Killing Him And Taking His Property"
[Onion: News in Brief]
http://pol...ould-discourage-ame-1842396398
"NEW HAVEN, CT—Speaking out against proposals to provide federal assistance to Americans hardest hit by the pandemic-fueled economic downturn, local conservative Mark Garrett expressed worry Wednesday that relief checks would discourage citizens from learning to provide for themselves by killing him and taking his property. “People in this country should have enough self-reliance to stand on their own two feet, bust down my door, cut my throat, and seize all of my possessions,” said Garrett, adding that in America, there are plenty of profits to be had by anyone motivated enough to just go out there and forcibly take them. “There’s a real moral hazard here: When you pay people for doing nothing, it rewards them for being too irresponsible to look at all the wealth I’ve accumulated and realize that if they simply kidnapped my family and held them for ransom, I would eagerly pay it. A resourceful person wouldn’t even need a gun, not if they were enterprising enough to come at me with a knife, an ax, or a tire iron. At the end of the day, if you’re not willing to murder me while I’m asleep in bed and pocket all my valuables, you’re not willing to work.” Garrett went on to ask why federal funds couldn’t instead be given to the national guard, which would need to be sent in to impose martial law when the peasants began to riot."

A comment points out that a large van changed lanes abruptly to avoid the stopped cars in the left lane.. so the car behind the van didn't see what was ahead until the lane change. That doesn't mean they get off the hook for rear-ending someone.. just a reminder that smaller vehicles should give more following space to vehicles that block views of the road ahead..

I think I'm in love with this "Mike Pierson" comment that was posted under this Brainlet video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOSbLj8JZqQ
[Imran A. Khan] = pro-Biden defeatist
[Imran A. Khan]: "Mike Pierson sour grapes. Of course. People like you are the reason why Trump is in the office. With this juvenile mentality, you are essentially one of the deplorables."
[Mike Pierson]: "Your party's unwillingness to listen to us is why you lose.
Let's make something clear.
Going by Gallup polling conducted twice a month all the way back to 2004, about 30% of the country are Republican, 30% are Democrats, and 40% are Independents. We Indies are the largest group in the country. Yet both you main parties ignore us or fight with us, rather than listen to us. A lot of Sander's support comes from us.
Instead, you make it clear that you have no respect for us or our needs or desires. You don't care what we have to say nor what we believe. Instead, you bathe your brains in the head-patting drivel of mainstream media, telling you how "smart" you are for agreeing with them.
I'll tell you what we want and are about. We're sick of "vote for me because I'm better than the other guy" campaigns. We're sick of the abuse of power of the main parties. We're sick of being ignored.
Your party's predetermined support for Biden and the backstage games designed to get him elected showed that, once again, you are not interested in us. So we'll abandon you again.
And yes, Trump will win if Biden secures the nomination. And you'll cry, and your ilk will blame everyone else. Because you are incapable of accepting responsibility for your own short-sightedness or inability to read the actual zeitgeist in this country."

It was definitely disappointing to see the nomination process move away from the goodies. :/

..
"(so i'm arguing w/ woman in video rather than those comments... & i only watched a minute so maybe she addressed that i dunno :p)"

She only sort of did. She mentions how Yang basically endorsed Bernie with compliments but then "officially" endorsed Biden. She was disappointed in him but didn't condemn him since he's a good candidate for future elections.. It *would* be nice to see him again.

And the libertarian/independent field does not look good this year.. No Gary Johnson, no Evan McMullin (I), and Vermin Supreme actually looks better than Jacob Hornberger (Hornberger being the only valid, non-crazy libertarian). Jill Stein won't be running either, and I've never heard of Howie Hawkins (Green Party). Strange year..

A Florida man is facing battery charges after he allegedly beat a pregnant woman he accused of having been infected by the coronavirus.

Joseph Newell, 24, was arrested on Monday after a Cape Coral police officer responding to a call allegedly saw him “straddling” the victim with his hands around her neck, according to a police report obtained by People.com.

The responding officer ordered Newell to stop, but he allegedly continued his attack.

Newell was taken into custody after officers applied a “pain compliance” technique to his neck. Officers said he appeared intoxicated, according to local NBC affiliate WBBH.

Officers also said Newell bashed his head into concrete while handcuffs were placed on him and also ranted about the coronavirus, which he accused his victim of having.

"San Francisco CVS thieves"
http://imgur.com/gallery/4s8RmNN

It's difficult to say if this was Coronavirus-related medicine stocking or just regular SF thieving. Comments point out that the 2014 California Proposition 47 made it so that petty theft (<$950) doesn't get pursued by police, which has increased petty theft at retailers. I think a cool move would have been for the CVS employee (vest-wearer) to cut the straps of the bags with a box cutter — it observes the non-violence of retail while also making things difficult for the thieves ;p
